WATERLOO AFM 2019 ACCEPTANCE
Hey guys, I'm planning to apply to the AFM program and I wanted to know what I could be doing to better my chances of getting into the program. It would also be really helpful if you guys put some input in about what you think my chances are of getting in, from current students.

About Myself...
-Projected grade 12 average 84.5%-87%
-Grade 11 average 80% ( included 3 grade 12 courses: philosophy (90%), Canadian law (80%), grade 12 English in summer school (90%)
-EC'S: DECA, founder of "Careers Club" at my school, member of chess club, politics club grade 12 representative for student council, in-clinic volunteer for the Canadian Blood services, part-time worker at Food Basics, ultimate frisbee team,
-Also interested in Western, UofT, and Brock

Any sort of input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)
Switch out First Year Engineering
Hi, I am in Ryerson Mechanical Engineering and I made another post where people did reply, but critiqued hard. The thing is I don’t know whether I really like engineering to continue on. My physics skills aren’t spectacular, but in the past when I worked hard an 87 average resulted in high school. I only have a vague sense of fields after research and can’t decide easily. Narrowing it down my top priorities for a job is a reasonably high salary and a happy job. My favourite subjects consist of law (mystery-detective etc), business and the sciences. My CGPA at the moment is quite low around 2.5/4 in engineering and would like to know my options. The earlier my decision is made, the less stressful my journey would be. Yes, I did ask these questions in grade 12, went to multiple councillor meetings, but nothing became crystal clear. I am interested in Mcmaster Business and UTSC management, which I was accepted in last year. This a tight situation and I don’t want my life’s hardwork go to waste. Thanks!

Is it worth applying to Queens commerce?
In your honest opinion, do you think I could get into Queens commerce even though I got a 77% in pre-calc 11? I hate to be the student who blames their grade on the teacher, but seriously, she was crap.
Currently I sit at an 87% in pre-calc 12. My overall average for gr 11 was 90.0% and I'm aiming for around a 91.0% for gr 12.
I'm kinda lacking in the ec dept though....
Played varsity soccer all 4 years of high school.
Selected to represent soccer players across BC to play teams across Europe (coming up next may)
Youth soccer referee gr 9, 10, 11
Soccer coach gr 11 & 12
Part-time job at a local grocery store gr 11 & 12.
I can't decide whether it's even worth applying if there's no chance I'm going to get in... any thoughts help!! Thanks in advance :)

ASK ME ANYTHING !! (currently a UBC Sauder student)
Hello everyone!

I can totally understand how stressful it is to apply to universities. That is why I am here to help!

Last year, I applied to commerce programs at UBC, U of T, SFU, Queens, and Alberta. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about the applications for the above uni; as well as any general questions that you may have.

If you need tips or help with writing personal essays for uni and stuff, I am also the go to person for that :D

I hope you all can get into your dream school !

Yconic Sold to Data Gathering Company
So I noticed Yconic has been getting worse and worse over the past couple months. Links literally don’t work, all the info seems out of data and loads of other problems so I decided to do some Googling and may have found the answer.

https://twitter.com/JeanMarcLeger1/status/1004793869370785792

It turns out Yconic sold to Canada largest company for polling and market research. I always wondered how much Yconic was selling my data, well now I don’t since it is owned by a company whose only job it seems is to get information from people and sell it to other companies.
Opinions- Queen's Commerce Vs. U of T Rotman Commerce Vs. Western Ivey
The big question of my year. I'm waiting to apply to universities to get my undergrad. My long term goal is to work for myself through investing and creating businesses and such. I do not want to work in the big firms like Deloitte or Ernst and Young for a majority of my professional career. I wanted to get your opinion on what Rotman is like and what Queens commerce is like and how it would play out long-term. Western Ivey info would be great too!

UWaterloo AFM 3A! ASK ME ANYTHING
Hi there y'all. Its application and acceptance season again! I remember this forum really helped me a lot when I was doing apps so I thought I would post one of these. I'm currently a student at Waterloo in the AFM program. Just completed my 2nd year and am doing my second coop term before I return in winter for my 3A term.

Before all the posts about averages come in here's what I was accepted into Waterloo with when I applied and got in with in 2016:

Grade 12: 92-93 average (data management, English, calculus, advanced functions, accounting, international business, economics and organizational behavior)

Grade 11: 89 average do not remember my courses except grade 11 accounting

ECs: nothing much. Mostly focused on academics although I ran a mini side business tutoring elementary school kids math and english as well as volunteered to help tutor struggling students when they were preparing for make up exams in high school( all added up to less than 1 hour commitment a week) Also had 100+ volunteer hours accumulated over the summer from participating in a program to help international students become accustomed to toronto.
I want to go to UBC Sauder but I feel like I'm not good enough to apply
Hi

Soo I want to go to UBC Sauder for the upcoming Fall of 2019 year. However, with the new admission requirements they have and my current grades, I feel like I won't have enough for Sauder. So far, my grade average for the gr 12 courses I want to apply with are within 86-87% however my overall gpa for gr 11/12 is somewhere in the mid 80s.
I personally think I have solid extracurriculars- I run my own school club for 3 years,  have hundreds of volunteering hours, and I have won a few awards for community service. And I do a few sports like basketball and other hobbies in my spare time as well so I'm quite well rounded.
Overall I would love some advice about what I should do for uni. I know I need to bump up my grades but any other advice for business programs/UBC would be apperciated!

Business programs that might not need calc 12?
Hi I just started grade 12 in Bc and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

I originally planned on taking calc 12 in school but I got stuck with a teacher notorious for failing his calc students. I know calc is really important for a large portion of schools in the East but with my GPA in mind, I've decided to drop it. I was wondering if I should try doing it online (I know it's a pretty intense course) or if I should just apply to a school that doesn't require calc 12 (If there are any besides UBC and McMaster, I haven't seen any others). ANY advice would be very calming for my stressed out brain rn.

Ask me Anything: Ivey HBA Transfer 2018 from another university
Not going to say my university of transfer.
It's from an Ontario university but it's not Toronto or Waterloo.

I've been in your position before. I really just want to help students make better decisions towards their careers so that they can one day contribute more effectively in their communities.

I'm the  OP for this post linked below. I really encourage that you take a read on that one too!

Transferring After First-Semester to a University I've Already Been Accepted to
So I accepted an offer to a university, but I've been incredibly unhappy and want to transfer next semester to a university program I've already been accepted to and one that is less prestigious and competitive as the one I am currently attending. How are my chances looking?

Am I good enough for Queen's/Ivey?
Projected top 6 average: 93% - 95%

ECs: -Events coordinator at a religious institution
         - Founder/President of a school club
         - Food Bank Volunteer
         - VP of another school club
         - Soccer team captain in a local league
         - Swimming team captain (school)
         - Basketball team (school)
         - Store Associate in a department store (only a few months so far)

My ECs seem weak to me. Obviously all these activities were spread out over my 4 years of HS, so just wondering if that's ok, or do they just want to know what you did in G12?

University Applications Fall 2018
I finished HS this past June, currently taking a gap year to upgrade a few courses, and plan on applying to uni again soon. This might be a dumb question, but if I apply right now, will universities immediately begin reviewing my application with whatever's on my transcript, or will they wait until they get more info i.e. my upgraded course marks? My upgraded marks will be complete mid-November, and the other classes (YRDSB e-learning) will be done by the end of January. Should I apply now or later?

Also Queen's and Western say "Online application forms are available on OUAC from October 1", but it seems like I can already apply on OUAC?

Grade 12 Economics
Has anyone on here taken grade 12 economics? I'm going to be taking it online and I was wondering the difficulty/ workload of this course. I took it to prepare for Econ in uni, but I'm afraid it will drop my average.
Laurier BBA student 1st year- Ask me Anything
Hey all I'm currently a 1st year undergraduate at the Lazaradis School of Business and Economics. I was in your position not too long ago so feel free to ask me anything and I'll try to help you the best I can.

Also be aware of "facts" that are posted here and take it with a grain of salt.

Best of luck future Golden Hawks!

University Looking at marks
Ok so currently I am taking both biology and chemistry in adult school. They go by quadmesters so ill be done both these courses by November 9th. Now calc and data are offered only during the third and fourth quadmester. So the third starts January 31st.

Im planning to take either calc or data, but will universities still look after date for marks from schools like adult school and not reject me because I took calculus before and got a 70, so will they use the 70 and reject me or will they wait until the quadmester ends which is April 16th?

Thanks

How good is Laurier DD BBA/BA(fin math) with co-op compared to other top tier schools such as Queen’s and Ivey?
Also if you go to Laurier, do you like the campus and the program? Why or why not

Queens Commerce Application
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could help me in figuring out what the Queens Commerce questions look like from year to year.

I was also wondering what attracts the admissions team as far as an applicant and the chances of getting in.

If anyone has any experience with this, I'd be so glad if you can help me out!

University
Suppose I want to attend a school that is alright, that gives you everything to get directly into becoming a CPA that isn't that highly recognized, will I then have a chance of making a lot of money, and have a chance into getting a decent job with a decent salary. From getting a bachelor degree in business, that is not from a very prestigious university something like MRU in Calgary
